Online Training Courses

These courses are designed for professionals aspiring to pass a certification exam given by the American Society of Quality (ASQ). After successfully completing a course, you will better understand quality engineering and management, be able to apply a wide range of quality tools and concepts to your individual work situation, and be prepared to take the ASQ certification exam. Certifications covered in the courses include certified quality engineer (CQE), certified quality auditor (CQA), certified six sigma green belt (CSSGB), and certified six sigma black belt (CSSBB), lean six sigma (based on green belt exam), and lean six sigma (based on black belt exam). The price includes a textbook. Exam details can be found on www.asq.org  

Upon registration and payment, the student will receive a link and password to view the course modules. Each module is a video with narration from Stephen Deas.  Stephen was certified as a Quality Engineer in 1991 and a Six Sigma Black Belt in 2003.  He will be available for a minimum of two hours each week via email or phone to answer questions, review homework, etc.

The courses are designed to lead up to the ASQ certification exam.

C. Personal Development
This course uses spiritual and business concepts to help individuals improve personally and professionally. After successfully completing the course, you will gain perspective on where you are in life, where you are in your career, and have a vision of where you want to go in life and your career. Course topics include improving your thought process, developing a plan, beginning to do, checking yourself, and taking actions.

D. Lean Concepts and Tools
This course gives business professionals a strong overview of lean concepts and guidance on the application of lean tools. After successfully completing the course, you will be able to identify sources of waste in your organization and apply lean tools to eliminate the sources of waste. Course topics include 5s, mistake proofing, setup reduction, process mapping, and conducting lean events.

E. Process Mapping
Defining a process is a first step to continuous process improvement. Process Mapping is a tool for defining processes. The student will learn the following process mapping techniques: Simple Process Flow Diagram, Deployment Diagrams, SIPOC Diagrams, and Value Stream Maps.

F. Basic Statistical Process Control
This course covers the fundamentals of statistical process control. The topics covered include the sections of a control chart, how to calculate subgroup statistics, the reason for control limits, and interpretation rules for charts.

G. Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
This course focuses on the development of processes with process flow charts, PFMEA, and Control Plan. The student will learn how to create and maintain a PFMEA.

H. Problem Solving
Every organization, at some point, must solve a problem. When problems arise, it is important to have a well defined process for solving problems. The course teaches a process that includes: Form a Team, Define the Problem, Protect the Customer, Find the Root Cause, Take Corrective Action, and Take Preventive Action.
